Allan Mackenzie, Founding Partner
Founding partner Allan Mackenzie has spent 40 years in the evolution of legal technology. Starting as a legal word processor for a city attorney on pre-pc equipment, Allan leveraged his passion for automation to advance his education, his workplace and the industry as a whole. After testing assignments for companies such as Xerox, Texas Instruments, Exxon QYX and AT&T, Allan joined Wang Laboratories as a support and configuration engineer in 1989, helping organizations such as the VS Legal Users Group (VSLUG) now known as the International Legal Technology Association.
1992 saw Allan move to Microsoft Corporation starting as a Windows 3.1 support engineer. Allan rapidly rose to Excel Mentor, contributing Excel Knowledgebase editor, Microsoft Word escalations lead, worldwide training lead for Microsoft Excel, and first worldwide training lead for Outlook while at the same time providing specialty seminars to large clients such as American Airlines, Gateway and Dell. His training regions included the United States, Canada, England, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and Australia.
Since the Microsoft years, Allan has helped found or joined 4 national and international consultancies focused on the use of technology involved in the business and practice of law to promote efficiency, cost savings and thereby access to justice. His training and lecture schedules have been attended by more than 70,000 legal professionals at law firms, state, county, and provincial bar associations and law societies, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers, the Association of Legal Administrators, The Association of Legal Secretaries, The Association of Paralegals, and various professional liability funds.
Allan is past member and co-chair of the ABA TechShow board, International Legal Technology Association University instructor, adjunct lecturer to Bellevue Community College, guest lecturer at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, advisor to the Suffolk Law School legal clinics, guest speaker at Association of Legal Administrators national conference, representative at the Microsoft Developer's Network national convention, Clio representative to numerous state bar conventions, author and contributor to numerous articles in technical journals and guest on podcasts. Allan has also been interim and permanent Technology Director to three law firms ranging from 80 to 600 attorneys.
